WORLD TEACHERS' DAY: Tiamy Felicitates Nigerian Teachers, Lauds Gov Makinde's Giant Stride on Education Intervention in Oyo


The Special Adviser to Gov Makinde on Education Intervention, Honourable Oloye Suraj Abiodun Tiamy, has felicitated Nigerian teachers on today’s occasion of World Teacher’s Day.

Honourable Tiamy also commended His Excellency, Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde over critical infrastructure on education such as free education, building of more classroom blocks among other giant steps taken which have been shown in the recently released data of the states with lower number of the street children.

Tiamy who addressed journalists in Ibadan on Saturday Morning in Ibadan through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Sanusi Abdullahi Oyelekan on the occasion of this year's World Teacher’s Day saying, this year’s theme: "Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education."

While eulogizing the teachers, Tiamy said: “Teachers are the guides who play important roles in transforming us to be responsible citizens as part of agents of socialization. 

“Teachers contributions are not only limited to schools but extends to the larger society. Thus, after parents, teachers should receive the due respect. 

“As you (the teachers) are being globally celebrated today, I am honestly charging you to continue to teach our students more carefully and sincerely and love them as your own children", he added.

Recall that World Teachers' Day is being celebrated annually on every October 5th which this year's date falls on a Saturday, providing a perfect weekend opportunity to express gratitude and admiration for educators with this year's theme: "Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education."
