The Special Adviser To Gov Makinde on Education Intervention Honourable Oloye Suraj Abiodun Tiamy has on Friday, commended Oyo state Gov, His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde for approving the N80 thousand Minimum Wage for Oyo state workers.
Briefing reporters in Ibadan shortly after observing Jumat prayer at state Government Secretariat Mosque in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on the State of the nation and Oyo state in particular, Hon Tiamy also cautioned Nigerians against cursing their leaders, adding that the nation's leadership only needed citizens' cooperation, supports and understanding and continuous prayers for divine guidance as it was being done in other developed world.
Recall that Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde announced had on Wednesday announced a N80,000 minimum wage for Oyo state workers which is one of the highest in the present day Nigeria.
“We know that the government doesn’t have much money. Labour unions and Nigerians should appreciate that while in the nearest future it would be reviewed.
“Sincerely, I feel pain to address the Press today, on issues that are lingering in the Nigerian political space, threatening to undermine the co-values of our political sojourn. First of all, let me emphatically acknowledge the fact that the Nigerian state is going through a very harsh economic downturn. Secondly, is the factual development that, the consequential manifestation of hardship, and poverty as a result of the soaring cost of living, has negatively devastated Nigerians of all strata.
“I genuinely accept, appreciate, and sympathize with my fellow countrymen and women on these unfortunate scenarios, to wit: soaring prices of food items, services, and goods across the country.
“As a democrat, I also accept the feelings of Nigerians, mostly, the downtrodden, whose meagre economic demand power, has not been able to cope with the development for a mutual template that can robustly ensure hasty remedies in terms of, not only high food insecurity but also internal land, air, sea, and the porous borders security of our dear country.
Hon Tiamy urged Nigerians and Oyo state citizens to be patient with the government as things would soon be placed in better directions.
