JUST-IN: ABU Zaria Mass Comm Dept Gets Boost As Ibrahim Jimoh, Maryam Ibrahim Attain Professorship

 

The Department of Mass Communication of the Prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria has received a significant academic boost with the promotion of two distinguished scholars, Dr. Ibrahim Jimoh and Dr. Maryam Ibrahim, to the rank of Professors.

This milestone marks a significant achievement for the department, highlighting its commitment to academic excellence and research.

Dr. Ibrahim Jimoh, a renowned expert in Media and Communication studies, possesses an impressive academic background, holding degrees from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

Dr. Jimoh joined ABU’s services in 2004 and has spent nearly two decades contributing to the university’s academic excellence. His research interests span Media Management, Development Communication, Health Communication, Media Research Theories, Public Relations, Advertising, and Online and Social Media.

As an accomplished scholar, Dr. Jimoh has collaborated with prominent institutions, including the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), International Republican Institute (IRI), Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), and Action Aid Nigeria.

Within ABU, Dr. Jimoh has demonstrated commitment to university service, notably as a member of the University Organised Lectures Committee since 2014 and the National Risk Communication Technical Working Group (NRCTWG) of the NCDC.

Dr. Maryam Ibrahim’s promotion is another testament to the department’s academic prowess. Born on June 6, 1972, in Udubo, Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Professor Ibrahim’s academic journey is marked by dedication and passion for excellence.

Professor Ibrahim’s educational background spans several institutions, including Women Arabic Teachers College, Alkaleri; College for Legal and Islamic Studies, Misau; Bayero University Kano; and University of Maiduguri.

Her professional career began in 2002 as a Public Relations Officer at the Federal Medical Center, Azare. She later joined Kaduna State University and became an Assistant Lecturer at ABU’s Department of Mass Communication in 2008.

Rising through the ranks, Professor Ibrahim has demonstrated exceptional scholarship, teaching, and service to the university. Her promotion to Full Professor is a well-deserved recognition of her contributions.

Both professors’ promotions reflect ABU’s commitment to nurturing academic talent and excellence.

Their promotions will undoubtedly enhance the department’s research and teaching capacities, benefiting students and the academic community.
