JUST IN: Fire Razes LAUTECH Teaching Hospital's Emergency Unit, Destroys Property Worth Millions


A fire outbreak at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, has destroyed property worth millions of naira.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, November 23, gutted the hospital’s Emergency and Accident Unit. 

The fire reportedly began around 5 a.m. in a paediatric consultant’s office, allegedly caused by an electrical spark.

Equipment, books, engines, electronic gadgets, as well as the roofs and ceilings of the affected unit, were destroyed in the blaze. 

Sources revealed that 16 patients had to be urgently evacuated from the ward to ensure their safety. 

Confirming the incident, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Omotayo Ogunleye, stated that normalcy had been restored at the facility. 

He said: “Yes it is true. It is a minor incident. But, normal activities have resumed in the hospital.
