TIAMY IN ATTENDANCE AS OYO MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT ROLLS OUT MAKE OYO SPARKLING CLEAN INITIATIVE, MAKINDE PROMISES MORE SANITARY INSPECTORS TO BE RECRUITED.

Honourable Oloye Suraj Abiodun Tiamy was part of the dignitaries in attendance at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources initiative tagged "MAKE OYO STATE SPARKLING CLEAN: OWN YOUR ACTION".


The idea as part of Oyo State Government's efforts to ensure cleaner Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had on Thursday promised to get more Sanitary inspectors across the state.

Speaking earlier Engr Seyi Makinde ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Barr. AbdRoheem Bayo Lawal during the initiative tagged "MAKE OYO SPARKLING CLEAN: OWN YOUR ACTION" by the state Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources held at House of Chiefs Hall, State House of Assembly, Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Governor said, "This initiative by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources is highly commendable and we are ready to do whatever it takes to ensure this idea is implemented.

"We are aware that among the steps to effectively implement this great initiative is to employ more Sanitary Inspectors across the state because they are the ones to go House-to-House in order have safer and cleaner environment".

Also speaking, Honourable Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Hon AbdMojeed Mogbonjubola said, the gathering was to serve as stern warning to all erring members who were always found dumping their refuses indiscriminately hence leading to environmental degradations.

In his statement, Hon commissioner said, in a very long time that Ibadan had been named the dirtiest city in Nigeria but the narrative was changing.

"We own Ibadan together and we must be focused on how Ibadan is going to be the neatest city of the world.


"We are warning all the erring members of the society to desist from the olden days of dumping indiscriminately because I'm an environmentalist and we need to be pragmatic about this", he said.

Many environmental personalities were in attendance among whom were Honourable Oloye Suraj Abiodun Tiamy, Chief of staff to the Governor Honourable Segun Ogunwuyi, Local Government Chairmen, Special Assistant to the Governor on Communication Mr Dayo among other dignitaries.
