OYO MMPN TASKS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO TACKLE ECONOMIC, SECURITY CHALLENGES.

The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, Oyo state chapter has appealed to the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to as a matter of urgency and high significance put effective economic policies in place to control spiraling inflation, reduce cost of essential daily needs and make life easier and comfortable for average Nigerians. The need to revamp the nation's economy at this critical period cannot be overemphasized.

This message was contained in a Communique issued and jointly signed by Association Chairman Adebayo Abdur-Rofih and the Secretary Sherifdeen Nasirdeen at the end of the October 2023 meeting of the association held on Sunday 29th October, 2023 at the FRCN station, Ibadan Oyo state.

The association also calls on the President to be firm and assertive in his political and governance decisions/policies in order to whittle down undue influence of the known and unknown cabals in and outside the presidential villa.

In the statement: "We urge government to step up its efforts in handling security matters and to rejig and restructure the nation's security architecture to ensure adequate safety and security of lives and property of the citizenry.

"Nigerians in general also need to be conscious and vigilant of happenings in their environment and to be quick on intelligence sharing with security agencies in order to nip crimes and criminality in the bud", the statement read.

The Association equally call on the federal government to take more decisive actions in the fight against corruption. There should be no sacred cow, and no case of corruption should be swept under the carpet. We believe sincere fight against corruption will be good for Nigeria and Nigerians as the malaise is an ill wind that blows no one any good.
