Special Adviser To Gov Makinde On Education Intervention, Hon Tiamy Spearheads Education, Security Revamp In Oyo State Schools

In a proactive move to address the pressing issues of education and security in Oyo State, the state House of Assembly recently took decisive actions to improve the safety and infrastructure of public schools. Spearheading these efforts is Honorable Suraj Abiodun Oloye Tiamy, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Intervention.

Under his leadership, significant strides have been made towards enhancing the quality of education and ensuring the safety of students and staff in schools across the state.

It was gathered that, Honorable Waheed Akintanyo, representing Oluyole Local Government, last week tabled a motion on the floor of the House, advocating for the installation of perimeter fences in all schools throughout Oyo State. This motion underscores the critical importance of securing school premises to safeguard students and prevent unauthorized access. Additionally, the House called on the state government to bolster security measures around public schools, recognizing the escalating threats posed by incidents of kidnapping, vandalism, and theft.

In response to these urgent concerns, Honorable Suraj Abiodun Oloye Tiamy wasted no time in taking action. He initiated a comprehensive assessment and inspection of schools across the state, identifying security and infrastructure deficiencies as primary challenges. Reports from these assessments were meticulously compiled and presented to Governor Seyi Makinde, highlighting the critical need for immediate intervention.

Since assuming office as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Intervention, Honorable Suraj Abiodun Oloye Tiamy has led efforts to physically assess over 60 schools in Ibadan main and less cities as well as various schools across Oyo State. Through these inspections, vital data on the condition of primary and secondary schools has been gathered, providing valuable insights into the most pressing issues facing the education sector.

Notably, preliminary findings indicate that approximately 90% of schools have identified security and fencing as their top priorities for improvement.

In collaboration with state security agencies, such as the Amotekun Corps, proactive measures are being implemented to protect school infrastructure round the clock. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that the state's investments in education are safeguarded, while also creating a conducive learning environment for students.

The documented reports detailing the challenges and recommendations for improvement have been submitted to Governor Seyi Makinde for prompt action. It is evident that through the dedicated efforts of Honorable Suraj Abiodun Oloye Tiamy and the collective commitment of relevant stakeholders, significant progress is being made towards enhancing the quality of education and bolstering security in Oyo State schools.

As the executive arm of the government continues to work tirelessly through the Office of the Special Adviser, the Ministry of Education, and other stakeholders, there is a renewed sense of optimism for the future of education in Oyo State. With Honorable Suraj Abiodun Oloye Tiamy at the helm, the journey towards a safer and more prosperous educational landscape for all is well underway.
